RTS-Jackson
- Pastor's Day Conference, February 18, with speaker Skip Ryan,
Senior Pastor, Park Cities Presbyterian Church, Dallas.
- Youth Ministry Day with Dieter Paulson and Wade Coleman was
held March 24.
RTS-Orlando
- Kistemaker Lecture Series, "New Testament Eschatology,"
March 11-13, including Drs. Simon Kistemaker, Reggie Kidd, Charles
Hill and Knox Chamblin.
RTS Charlotte
- Academic Conference: Dr. David Calhoun and Dr. Andy Hoffecker
presented the Spring Lecture Series, RTS-Charlotte, March 11-12.
- Rev. Carl Ellis taught a course, March 23-27, "America's
Islamic Challenge."

FACULTY APPOINTMENTS/RETIREMENTS
Dr. Sam Larsen has been appointed to the position of Academic
Dean for the Jackson campus beginning June 1.
Dr. James Coffield has been appointed to the Orlando faculty
as Associate Professor of Counseling beginning June 1.
Dr. H. Wilbert (Will) Norton retired from RTS in December
2002. Dr. Norton served the seminary for nearly 13 years, beginning
at the Jackson campus as Professor of Missions, and moving to the
Charlotte campus in 1993, where he served as Professor of Missions
and Advisor to the Executive Vice President.
ATLANTA
The Association of Theological Schools in the United States and
Canada recently approved RTS-Atlanta to offer a Master of Arts in
Religion Degree.

NEW FORMAT FOR M.DIV.
DEGREE
It is now possible to earn a Master of Divinity Degree through
Summer courses at RTS--Orlando. Combined with courses through RTS
Extensions and the Virtual Campus, students can earn an M.Div. Degree
in five years.

Dr. Simon Kistemaker, Professor of New Testament Emeritus,
RTS-Orlando, is writing a book title The People Jesus Met,
targeted for completion at the end of Summer 2003 with publication
early next year. Dr. Kistemaker has written two articles to be published
in two books, one edited by Keith Mathison, the other by Dr. Charles
E. Hill and Frank A. James, III.
Dr. Bruce Waltke, Professor of Old Testament, RTS-Orlando,
has written a two-volume commentary on Proverbs that is forthcoming
this year. Dr. Waltke serves on the Ecumenical Standing Advisory
Committee for the Visual Bible. The Gospel of John will be released
in Summer 2003.
Professor John Frame, Professor of Systematic Theology and
Philosophy, RTS-Orlando, authored Apologetics to the Glory
of God, now available in Chinese. Also, his book, Cornelisus
Van Til is now available in Indonesian (Penerbit Momentum,
2002). Prof. Frame's article, "Does God Know Everything,"
was published in Moody Magazine (March/April 2003).
Dr. Charles Hill, Professor of New Testament, RTS-Orlando,
wrote an article published in New Testament Studies
(48 [2002], 587-592). He is writing a book that has been accepted
for publication by Oxford University Press. Dr. Hill's Tyndale New
Testament Study Group paper will be published in a collection to
be published by Mohr-Siebeck (Tubingen).
Dr. Frank James, RTS Academic Vice-President, had several
articles published recently, including "The Covenantal Convictions
of a Compassionate Calvinist: Lewis Bevens Schenck (1898-1985)"
and "Introduction to the Presbyterian Doctrine of Children
in the Covenant: An Historical Study of the Significance of Infant
Baptism in the Presbyterian Church in America," by Lewis Bevens
Schenck (Phillipsburg, NJ: Presbyterian and Reformed Publishing).

Dr. Rick Gamble, Professor of Systematic Theology, RTS-Orlando,
recently published "The Clash of King and Kirk: The 1690 Revolution
Settlement in Presbyterian Scotland."
Dr. Derek Thomas, John Richards Associate Professor of Practical
Theology, RTS-Jackson, has written a book, published by Evangelical
Press, titled Mining for Wisdom: 28 Daily Readings from Job.
Dr. Thomas has also written Let's Study Revelation
(Banner of Truth). He contributed a chapter to Feed My Sheep!
A Passionate Plea for Preaching (Soli Deo Gloria), which
was published in October 2002.
Dr. William Barcley, Associate Professor of New Testament,
RTS-Jackson, is completing a commentary on 1 and 2 Timothy for Evangelical
Press.

Dr. Sam Larsen presented a paper at the South Central Regional
Meeting of the Evangelical Missiological Society's joint meeting
with the Evangelical Theological Society at Dallas Theological Seminary,
March 21-22.
Dr. Mark Futato taught at the National Leadership Conference
for Campus Crusade for Christ, February 27-March 11, Cocoa Beach,
FL.
Dr. Michael Payne presented papers in the U.K. in April
at The Royal College of Military Science, The Oxford Centre for
Mission and The University of Gloucestershire (Cheltenham).
Dr. Derek Thomas lectured at the Seoul Presbyterian Church,
Seoul, Korea, in March.
Dr. Steve Childers co-directed with Dr. Allen Thompson the
first assessment at the Central Florida Church Planter Assessment
Center in Orlando, March 3-6.
Dr. Richard Pratt lectured at the Conference on Expository
Preaching, Calvin Seminary, Grand Rapids, MI, March 13.
